Barcelona to triple Neymar’s salary
When you have nearly unlimited wealth, it’s quite a feat to pick the right players for your prestigious club. Manchester City have already bagged Raheem Sterling (£49m) and Kevin De Bruyne (£54m) but evidently they are not yet done in their attacking midfield department, in spite of also boasting the likes of David Silva, Jesus Navas and Samir Nasri.
Well, City are hoping big time to tempt Pep Guardiola to the club next summer, so they have to think really big. And you can’t really think bigger than the Ballon d’Or short-listed Neymar, and Neymar’s salary will indeed be breathtaking.
Mundo Deportivo thinks that once Pep is tied down, the famous Barcelona winger will be the next big name to make it at the Etihad.
Tebas told Cadena Ser that the anticipated departures of the Barcelona and Real Madrid superstars would seriously bring damage to future TV rights deals for the Primera Division, and obviously ensure the dominance of the Premier League: “We must try to hold on to [Messi and Ronaldo]. It would not be a problem right away if they leave, because we have sold the rights for the next three seasons, but it would have an effect from there on.”
Keeping that in mind, Barcelona are now set to offer Neymar a superb deal which would see the Brazil star’s remuneration rocket from €10.5 million net a year to a staggering €30m, according to Marca — an enormous increase considering the Camp Nou club’s recent financial constraints, but it’s absolutely worth it to keep the likes of Manchester United and City at bay during next summer with Neymar’s salary taking a majestic high.
However, Sport reports that Manchester City are preparing a monster offer for Lionel Messi for around €27m net per season. That’s the problem with owning stars is that everybody else also wants to reach for them, and the same goes for Neymar even though Barcelona are trying to take up Neymar’s salary.
