FC Barcelona vs Deportivo La Coruna: Match Preview
FC Barcelona play their final La Liga match right before their trip to Japan to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup tomorrow, when they host la liga club Deportivo La Coruna at the Camp Nou. The Blaugrana enter the match without the presence of one of their star players, brilliantly in-form striker Neymar who has been eliminated for the next couple of weeks with a serious groin injury, but they will be confident enough of securing the three points without him given the blistering form of Luis Suarez and Andrés Iniesta.
The Uruguayan forward has really come into his own this season, constructing upon an impressive debut season to utterly impress in all competitions so far this season; with 19 goals across La Liga, UEFA Champions League and also the Super Cups, Suarez is our reigning top scorer thus far the current season. In fact, he’s top of the assist ranking holder at the club too, and if we piece it all together, he’s just six goals away from matching his statistics from last season.
With Lionel Messi finding his way back to match sharpness after a rather lengthy spell on the sidelines, Suarez will confidently continue to lead the team, his performance-wise, this weekend and most certainly wouldn’t back against him from including a couple more to his tally this afternoon. Intriguingly, the injury to Neymar also provides Munir El Haddadi with yet another opportunity to shine in the prime team.
Opinions regarding Munir’s performances so far this year have been somewhatmixed, but he boasts the best minutes to assist ratio amongst the main team squad – hardly a non-promising statistic to have in your favour. An outstanding runner, Munir could make a fame for himself in this game, or perhaps over the coming Club World Cup – just as we speculated he would when he exploded onto the scene at the beginning of last season. Either way, as long as Barça keep gaining victory, there’s nothing to worry about too much.
