FC Barcelona vs Granada : Predicted lineups
The pendulum may have swung strongly in Lionel Messi’s way going into the Ballon D’Or awards ceremony. Yet again, the contest has turned into a two-horse race with the famous Argentinean and Portuguese maestro, Cristiano Ronaldo going toe to toe as usual.
For Granada, it is a crucial contest. The side crashed to 0-4 loss this midweek against Valencia, following another loss at the hands of Sevilla. Yet again, Granada discovers itself in precarious position, engaged in a relegation battle. They do have the team to take them over the line, after last year’s narrow escape.
Barcelona meanwhile have something else as ambitions and are understandably the overwhelming favourites here. Fresh from winning the Catalunian derby just last week, the European Champions are back in their familiar element. Despite going behind against Espanyol, the Blagurana’s standard was too much for their cross-town rivals to even deal with.
With Arda Turan being eligible to play, there is more strength in depth of the home side. The Turk’s direct through runs give the side a different dimension in overall attack.
There are issues to handle elsewhere though. Luis Suarez faces yet another spell on the sidelines after he was allegedly being involved in a tunnel brawl in the Copa de Rey clash against Espanyol. There were other clashes too in the game reported.
With Atletcio emerging as a strong team since Diego Simeone’s appearance at the club, the league title has now turned into a three-way street. In this exciting contest, Barcelona will predictably dominate the possession and their marauding front-three will assumably be at the goalmouth, sniffing lots of chances. For Granada, it is the midfield battle that will surely decide whether they can get anything constructive out of this contest. All the same, it should be a clash worth a look into.
