FC Barcelona vs Sevilla : Match preview
Spanish football club Barcelona have a massive chance to leave one or both of their prominent rivals for the La Liga title out of the race when they host Sevilla at Camp Nou here in the FC Barcelona vs Sevilla clash on Sunday night.
With Atletico Madrid defeating Real Madrid on Saturday, at least one of Barcelona’s closest pursuers seems to run out of the chasing potential this weekend and with Barcelona already holding an outstanding eight-point lead over Atletico and also nine over Real, a victory for Barcelona at the FC Barcelona vs Sevilla clash would be virtually decisive for the league, reports Xinhua.
Sevilla will be Barcelona’s rivals also in the final of FC Barcelona vs Sevilla Copa del Rey clash at the end of this season and the squads have already played twice this campaign with Barcelona winning a European Supercup title but succumbing to a defeat in Sevilla’s Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium at the first league clash of the campaign.
Sevilla visit Barcelona without a victory in 11 league matches away from their stadium current campaign and even faced a defeat to Norwegian outfit Molde in the Europa League last Thursday, albeit with the convenient excuse that their 3-0 first leg victory a week earlier had all but confirmed their place in the last 16 of that contest.
Barcelona will go into the game following their 2-0 Champions League impressive victory away to Arsenal and a rather less convincing but yet favourable victory against Las Palmas last weekend.
Three players who look unlikely to get a rest, however, are the trident Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez, whose goals continue to dig Barcelona out of every trouble when they are performing even below their best. Expect those three to start along with the players Sergio Busquets and Arda Turan while Aleix Vidal could well participate at right back against his former club.
