Neymar and Real Madrid never had a meeting, says Neymar Sr
Neymar’s father has dismissed any report speculating that the Barcelona star has had transfer related talks with Real Madrid directors, calling the rumored Neymar and Real Madrid associated allegations an “invention” on Thursday.
Neymar and Real Madrid had a brief meeting in Zurich when the player visited there for the Ballon d’Or gala, according to the Al Primer Toque on Onda Cero radio.
They claim that Neymar along with his father met with a Real Madrid representative there, Andre Cury and Wagner Ribeiro. It seems rather unlikely Cury was at the meeting as he works for FC Barcelona actually. In Ribeiro’s presence there is assumed to be solid reason, as he has a known friendship with Florentino Perez.
Madrid insisted on having a short meeting and Neymar accepted, although it was based on just protocol. On Ona Cero they speculate he is using Los Blancos to get even better economic terms for his much discussed Barcelona contract renovation, while Neymar’s folks are informing Madrid he is rather interested in joining them.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo on Thursday, Neymar Sr blatantly denied that any such meeting took place.
“This meeting with Real Madrid is an invention, it’s silly. We were all together in the same hotel, the directors of Barcelona and Real Madrid,” Neymar Sr said.
“We greeted them, but there was not any meeting. This is an invention.”
Neymar has really come into his own over the duration of past year and a half with his team Barcelona, and was rewarded for his outstanding performance by being named as one of three finalists for the prestigious 2015 Ballon d’Or award, which teammate Lionel Messi has won for a record fifth time earlier this January.
The former Santos man has previously expressed his desire to extend his current contract at the Camp Nou, and his father reciprocated the Brazilian’s stance on Thursday, denying Neymar and Real Madrid connection.
“We have a contract with Barcelona … and Neymar is happy at this club,” Neymar Sr added.
“He wants to renew his contract at the end of the season.
“I am Neymar’s sole representative and the only one who can negotiate on his behalf.”
