Neymar lagging behind Suarez & Messi in 2016
Neymar’s role at Barcelona has dropped off a little in 2016. If in 2015 the Brazilian was the perfect idol of Barça, eclipsing even the maestro Lionel Messi, in 2016 he hasn’t really shone so brightly and hasn’t yet been as decisive and pivotal for the team.
It’s all about streaks, though, and at this moment it’s Luis Suarez and Messi who are receiving immense praise for their goalscoring talent. Their numbers are very similar.
In the second phase of 2015, Suarez had been the top scorer with 24 goals, followed by Neymar (16) and Messi (13). Although the dynamic has changed in 2016, with Neymar scoring only six, while Messi and Suarez both have 14 – Munir has four.
So far this season is concerned, Suarez has 40, Messi 27 and Neymar 22.
It’s a similar sort of story when it comes to assists, too. Suarez has produced eight goals in 2016; Messi seven; and Neymar is at just four, closely followed by Arda Turan and also Arda Vidal (three each).
Meanwhile, Dani Alves and Adriano have generated two each, while Sergi Roberto, Sergio Busquets, Ivan Rakitic, Andres Iniesta, Jordi Alba and Juan Camara have all provided with one goal.
Despite this data, Neymar still remains one of the most exciting players currently playing in La Liga and is currently talking new terms with Barçelona, despite interest from different clubs.
Barcelona are feeling the Premier League pinch too as they struggle to find an lucrative shirt sponsorship deal that will permit them to keep up with the leading English clubs.
The Catalan team have had to go back to Qatar cap in hand after refusing the negotiations previously when their renewal proposition didn’t come up with a hefty increase in terms.
It’s a softening in stance from the Qataris essentially, who wouldn’t even answer the phone to the Spanish club.
But such a delay is already causing Nike serious problems with producing next season’s kit within time for promotional summer tours.
