Neymar not mature enough to lead Brazil – Leonardo
Former Selecao star and present director of Football at PSG, Leonardo has said that Neymar is not yet mature enough to lead Brazil. He was talking to SporTV in Brazil. He said that Neymar has performed really well for Brazil. But the fact is that he has not been able to control his emotions.
Neymar was made the captain of Brazil after the 2014 world cup. But Neymar saw a 4 match ban during the Copa America as a result of an on-pitch scuffle. Neymar was shown a red card in the match against Colombia in the group stages of Copa America.
According to Leonardo Neymar is a great player but he is unable to control his emotions and lacks maturity required for a captain. Leonardo further said that Neymar only wanted to take the ball, dribble it and score while playing for Brazil. And he was criticized for this attitude. But now Neymar has learned how to play without a ball. Leonardo further said that Neymar can improve in a lot of areas. Neymar does have the ability to learn and improve. Earlier he was unable to score on the penalty kicks but now he is a specialist.
Neymar still is only 23 years old and maturity comes with time. It will be interesting to see how the player reacts and improves to control his emotions during crunch situations.
