Transfer rumour : Neymar to replace Cristiano Ronaldo?
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez remains quite fixed on signing Barcelona superstar Neymar at any cost.
Latest reports have suggested that a meeting took place between the two sides at the Ballon d’Or gala in Zurich where the discussion for a potential deal was made, with the Madrid president craving Neymar to replace Cristiano Ronaldo.
Getting rid of Cristiano Ronaldo also may not be too difficult, at that. Both Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United still remain hopeful of signing him, waiting for president Perez to give them the positive sign to make a move for the Portuguese superstar. It would bring in a massive amount of money at the Santiago Bernabeu accordingly.
The second step, however, is a little more delicate. Perez would agree to pay in entirety Neymar’s release clause – which is a staggering 190 million euros – if the Brazilian agrees himself to cede 50 percent of his image rights to the club.
All things being considered, it’s a negotiation which could really end up costing Los Blancos 400 million euros for Neymar to replace Cristiano Ronaldo.
Perez remains very convinced that Neymar’s current problems with the courts, the eternal comparisons made with Lionel Messi and a tempting economical offer would be more than sufficient to tempt him away from Camp Nou.
It is being claimed that this is a fact Madrid have accepted – as they did also when they signed Luis Figo – while they are also gladly prepared to pay the player himself €35 million for a season over a five-year deal – more than double of what he currently earns at Barcelona.
Neymar is currently in the early stages of discussions to sign a new contract with Barca and manager Luis Enrique said on Tuesday that he expects an agreement will eventually be reached.
That would presumably witness the forward’s wages and buy-out fee rise dramatically.
However, until the new terms are signed ultimately, Perez is not going to give up on the idea of Neymar to replace Cristiano Ronaldo.
