Recently the nominations for the best player of Europe Award were announced by UEFA. No unexpectedly the three nominations for the award were Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Cristiano Ronaldo. The football community across the globe widely agrees that the nominations for 2015 UEFA best player award are well deserving since the three players were phenomenal and performed exceptionally well during the last season. However, some Barcelona fans think otherwise and they are of the opinion that Neymar Jr. deserved a place in the nominations.
Many of the die heart fans of Barcelona think that Neymar should have been included in place of Cristiano Ronaldo. But when one looks at the stats it will be quite ironic to not include Ronaldo in the in the nominations. On the other hand some of the fans think that Luis Suarez should not have been included and instead Neymar Jr. should have been there. Neymar Jr. scored 22 goals in La Liga and 10 goals in the Champions league. Where as Luis Suarez netted 16 goals in La Liga and 7 goals in Champions league. When it comes to assists the stats are with Suarez as he provided 14 assits which was the 3rd highest in La Liga following Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. In Champions League Suarez provided 3 assists and Neymar provided only 1 assist.
Overall the stats clearly show that Cristiano Roanldo and Lionel Messi had to be in the nominations. Luis Suarez vs Neymar Jr. is a matter of debate for Barcelona fans and one cannot say with surety that Neymar Jr. deserved a place instead of Suarez. So the question that was Neymar snubbed by UEFA in the nominations is very subjective and depends on ones preference with no clear cut winner in stats.
