Wonder kid has possibilities of being better than Messi
As age grows up with one of the greatest players of the modern times, Lionel Messi, the debate continues as to who will take over his pedestal in the global game, and will the player to Messi be as good as Messi, or will he be better than him. There are possibilities of Neymar to become as the next Messi as the global icon of this beautiful game, but can the Brazilian be better than his Argentine club-mate?
Neymar Junior, 23, has touched the sky already. He is often regarded as the third best player in the world currently behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi in different sections of game. He has treble haul of trophies with Barcelona in last season. Without any doubt,Neymar is the finished story which leaves us with plenty of room to analyse whether the Brazil captain can eclipse the greatness of the Argentine striker.
Statistically though, Neymar is going on his way to surpass Messi’s records for both country and club. Although it is left to be seen how long he plays as a Barcelona player. He has 42 goals for Brazil in just 59 caps. The huge record of Pele’s 77 goals is under threat. Messi, in contrast, has a score of only 49 international goals for Argentina, and it is only a matter of time before Neymar catches up with this.
Still Neymar has many things to learn and has a lot more ground to cover. He has to compete with the list of the collection of individual honours that Messi has achieved. Messi has been setting all sorts of records from winning Ballon d’Ors to being all-time top goalscorer of La Liga :a mountain for Neymar to climb.
Captaining his country at the age of 22 brings with an another dimension of pressure. Neymar is currently taking it all in his stride, things even Messi didn’t have to deal with at 22.
The pressure on him is to resurrect the position of Brazil as a dominating team in the world of football again which is a big responsibility.
Can Neymar become more than what Messi has become in his career? The answer probably lies with time, few years more. Messi is still around being the black horse of world football and there is no bar for what he can achieve. The most prestigious, a fifth Ballon d’Or is surely coming next January for him.He is just 28 now,so he still has years ahead of him.
This makes it even more difficult for Neymar to match the levels of Messi. Both Neymar and Messi will be at the peak of their powers for the upcoming games of the next few years. The Argentine legend makes it difficult for Neymar to impose his own authority on the game. Neymar has the tools and the ability, but does he have the right situations to maximise his potential and ability ?
Neymar has great skills and talked-about potential. But he has a long distance to go to catch up with his Barcelona team-mate. He has done a awesome job to be part of this discussion, but whether or not he can be better than his Argentine team mate depends on how well he handles himself and as well as his responsibilities under pressure in next few years.
For now, Neymar remains in shadows of the Argentine. But will it happen that Neymar becomes better than Messi in future, we, the fans of this game, will be greatly privileged to witness another player same like Messi or better than Messi in such a short period of time. There is proof to believe that one day Neymar can go on to the same level or even greater heights than Messi.
